My Ballad/Poem
So this week I wrote a ballad typed thing for Mr Ravenda's class and it's about insecurities so here it is.

We people share a mutual love for hatred
We hate a lot of things…
Like country music, or vegetables.
But there’s more than what meets the eye…
Things that aren’t assets of who we are…
Rather, it’s what we want to be.
It’s what we’re told to be.
It’s what we strive to be.
And painfully, it's what we aren’t.
There are assets of us that we can resist.
Biting our nails, picking at acne.
This isn’t one that we can abandon,
Rather it has abandoned us.
Our minds have moved on in pursuit of something better
Something we are told to be.
Something we strive to be.
Something we aren't.
So it left us.
Alone in this shell.
A shell of what we really, really don’t want to be.
But we really, really are.
So we crack.
No, we break.
No… We shatter.
And we pour our heart out into the hands of something that is missing.
The hands of someone who isn’t there to catch us from our lengthy plummet to our knees.
Instead, we pour our heart out to the person in the mirror.
We try to break this cycle but they just stare back
With the same damn tears that are in your eyes right now.
You think to yourself,
Why can't I be who I want to be
Why can't I just snap my fingers and be a whole nother person?
Why did I get stuck with being…
Me…
These demons are only trials of your determination.
Your confidence.
Your self-esteem.
Your sanity.
Only warriors make it.
Fight for you, not someone you want to be.
Not someone you’re told to be.
Not someone you strive to be.
Not someone that you aren’t.
Fight for you.
Not some model.
Not some celebrity.
Not a stranger, your cousin, your best friend.
Fight for you.
This is honestly so amazing and well written. I appreciate the overall message of this. Great Job Dani !!
