France’s Recent Terrorist Attacks.
On Friday, November 13th, there was a series of coordinated terrorist attacks directed by the Islamic state, ISIS, in France in several locations. There were shootings and suicide bombings in several restaurants and musical venues. There were about 352 people injured to all different kinds of degrees, and at least 129 confirmed deaths.
It started when the killers rented an apartment in Bobigny about a week before pursuing the attack. There was three teams of terrorists that split out between two restaurants and one concert hall. There was a series of coordinated explosions and shootings, and many people were held hostage. It was a grievous time for the people of France. As residents of the U.S., it is only natural for us to feel sympathy for the Parisians, for the French were our first ally and deserve respect. No country should have to go through such a thing. We should all be able to live without being worried about terrorists, for god’s sake.
At first, one of the suspected terrorists were stopped. He was then let go because they did not suspect him anymore, later to find out that he was the guy they were looking for. There is a manhunt going on for the terrorists, and many have already been put on trial. All we can hope for is them to be put to justice, I would say to live in peace, but that seems like a distant reality, now doesn't it?

So let's get a little more in depth on LCS.

Hi Guys!

So I got a lot of confused feedback last week in the comments. This week I'm going to go more into depth about what the LCS (The thing I was discussing last week) is.

So to start off, LCS is basically a sports division for league of legends. It's more generally classified as "eSports" which is more vague for other games that also have competitive teams. LCS Stands for League of Legends Champion Series. TSM is a team that I mentioned in my last post. The roster part was simply the five people who made up the team, and when I said "changes to the roster" I meant that some people left or retired, and new people joined the team, thus "changes to the roster."

So, I hope you guys can see that in a better light now, and don't be hesitant to ask me to clarify something again, because I'd love to help you understand the game.

While we're on the topic of LCS, lets go more in depth. Basically, teams compete to win various competitions and at the end of the season, there is world championships. It is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS (in a good way) the amount of people who tune in to watch the games.

This infographic above demonstrates the amount of people who watch eSports on the regular. As you can see, since 2010, the number of viewers has rapidly increased. I've been a constant viewer, keeping up completely with LCS late 2011. Evidently, the vast majority of watchers are male, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think it'd be hard for some girls to get involved in league. I guess league is an acquired taste though.

That's enough for this week! Bye guys, leave me a comment and tell me if this helped.

Interview

Hey guys, its Dani.

So, most people seem to be really hyped about the new changes to the TSM roster. Personally, I'm so...  so against this. Okay well now that I've expressed my disapproval, LETS GET TO THE INTERVIEW...

On Tuesday, I asked my friend Amelia (who is a fairly experienced and has no favorite team) a series of questions regarding this. These were her responses.

Q: Do you think the changes made to the TSM roster will positively affect TSM's performance in later games?

A: I think that it's foreign territory for the new potential members of TSM, and the old ones as well. I don't really know how they will get along with Reginald, however. He's kind of a- wait is this for your school? (<- face=""helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" font="" lol="">Moving on.. I think that it could go either way, depending on how the members adjust to eachother and to see if they really have that same synergy that the previous members had with one another.

Q: Now let's get into specifics. Are you especially happy/sad that someone left or someone joined? Who?

A: I think that Santorin really needed to go. Compared to the junglers on the other teams, it was like Santorin wasn't even there. It was like Santorin was dead or something.

Q: Heeeeeeeeeeere's a controversial topic. Dyrus. Any thoughts, to wrap it up?

A: I really don't think Dyrus was all that bad at all. Regi was a huge jerk to him. It made me feel even worse, because one he always gets camped, and two, he tries his best. I wouldn't be surprised if he retired because people were being butt hats to him. When he finally left, he went out with a very emotional interview, and that was when he got the fan support he really deserved

Posting again soon, let there be infographics. c:
Dani, out.

Drum Roll Please.... League vs. DotA

So.. Its time to cover a very... controversial topic.

LEAGUE VS. DOTA 2.

Yes, I just went there.

Well this is awkward isn't it... I'll try not to be biased.
*ahem league wins*

So lets start with a few similarities
League and DotA 2 have a few key similarities like:

  • -They are both MOBAs (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena)
  • -Lanes
  • -Phases (Laning and Grouping)
  • -Minions/Creeps (AI. controlled monsters spawned periodically to keep lanes pushing against each other)
  • -Champions(LoL)/Heroes(DotA 2) AKA characters
  • -Skill Shots (Abilities that need to be aimed)
  • -etc., etc.
  • And the differences...
  • -LoL has better champion art, and I'm not biased. I'm sure most people can agree.
  • -DotA 2 has more realistic graphics, but the game looks much darker and much more serious.
  • -Unlike LoL, in DotA 2 you start with ALL the champions instead of having to work up experience to purchase them from the in game store, which I think is more respectable. *cough cough*
  • -LoL has more champions than DotA 2 has heroes.

Okay, so I'll stop with the listing there. I'm definitely pretty biased because I don't have much experience with DotA or its community, but I can say, odds are, the DotA community is probably better than LoL. The LoL community is horrendously sickening.

That's all for this week! Have a good week! In the words of Arnold Shwarzenegger, I'll be back.
